Meerut, Jul 14 (PTI) : An 18-year-old girl was strangulated to death allegedly by her father, who was apparently upset over her behaviour of repeatedly running away from home in Mobin Nagar area.
The 55-year-old accused, identified as Saeed, later surrendered before the police, and was arrested on Tuesday, following which he was sent to jail, police said.
The victim was the youngest of the six daughters of Saeed, who was unhappy over her repeatedly running away from home.
She was lately gone again for a month, Lisadi Police Station In-charge Rabindra Singh said.
On Monday, when she returned home, the father- daughter duo had a quarrel, during which, Saeed, in a fit of rage, strangulated her with a rope, he said.
