'Bajirao Mastani' first teaser grand, larger than life

Mumbai, July 16 (IANS): The first teaser of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's directorial "Bajirao Mastani", is out -- and it lures the audience with its grandeur, awe-inspiring battle scenes, swordfights and the magic of actors Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra.

"It's that moment when time stands still. Presenting the spellbinding #BajiraoMastaniTeaser," read a post from the Eros Now Twitter handle, from where the teaser was shared.

Slated to hit the theatres on December 18, 2015, the movie features Ranveer as 18th century Maratha warrior Peshwa Bajirao I, while his love interest Mastani's role is essayed by Deepika. National Award winner Priyanka has portrayed Kashibai, the first wife of Peshwa Bajirao.

The two-and-a-half minute teaser, which is backed by music but no dialogues, brims with larger-than-life battle scenes, starring Ranveer and Deepika as warriors. The costumes, locations and the battle troops add to the aura of the glimpse into Bhansali's new project, which also reflects the visual delight of his past movies "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam", "Devdas" and "Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela".

The movie is said to be a historical love story, but the trailer hardly presents a hint of romance, except at the very end with Ranveer pronouncing: "Bajirao ne Mastani se mohabbat ki hai ayashi nahi".
