Maneka Gandhi inaugurates first One Stop Centre


New Delhi, July 16 (IANS): The first One Stop Centre (OSC) for women was inaugurated at Chhattisgarh's Raipur on Thursday by union Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi.

The OSC will provide all types of assistance including medical, police, legal help, psychosocial counseling, temporary support services to women affected by violence.

The minister said an OSC would be set up in each state and Union Territory by this year.

Gandhi also highlighted the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' scheme launched in January and praised Chhattisgarh for being a progressive state in terms of child sex ratio, which was much above the national average.

She also launched two schemes of the state government 'Tejaswini' for adolescent girls and 'Navaajatan' for malnourished newborns.
