Indian equities open higher on Friday


Mumbai, Jul 17 (IANS): A benchmark index for Indian equities, the sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), on Friday opened higher and was trading at 28,507.43 points, some 25 minutes after the opening bell.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading higher, at 8,624.15 points, with a gain of 16.10 points or 0.19 percent.

The 30-share Sensex opened at 28,521.78 points, against the previous close at 28,480.11 points. At 9.40 a.m., it was ruling at 28,507.43 points, with a gain of 57.23 points, or 0.20 percent.
