'Eid reaffirms spirit of compassion, charity'


New Delhi, July 17 (IANS): Vice President M. Hamid Ansari on Friday greeted the people on the eve of Eid, which marks the end of holy month of Ramadan, saying the festival "reaffirmed the spirit of compassion, charity and generosity".

"I convey my heartiest greetings and good wishes to the citizen of our country on the joyous occasion of Id-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of holy month of Ramzan," Ansari said in a message.

"This festival signifies the traditional expression of brotherhood and understanding between people and reaffirms the spirit of compassion, charity and generosity," he added.

The vice president further said: "May the noble ideals that mark Id-ul-Fitr enrich our lives with peace, prosperity and harmony and unite us all in the spirit of humanity."
