Took power to reconcile differences: Sayeed

Jammu, July 17 (IANS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed on Friday said he assumed power in the state to "reconcile contradictions".

He was speaking here at the birth centenary celebrations of late Congress leader Girdhari Lal Dogra.

"I have taken power in the state to reconcile contradictions and that is why I speak of the north and the south meeting each other," Sayeed said.

He said he has no lure for power since he has held the posts of home minister of the country and the chief minister of state in the past.

"I am pledged to ensure equitable development of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions of the state and to remove once and forever the misgivings between the three regions of the state", Sayeed added.

He also recalled his long association with late Congress leader.
