Mangaluru: Diocese honours newly elected panchayat members

Mangaluru, July 17: The panchayat members who were elected in the recently concluded panchayat elections were honored on behalf of the diocese of Mangaluru.








































Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D' souza called on the members to utilize the opportunity provided by the Almighty to serve all and uphold the rights of the people. “Panchayat members should work day
and night wholeheartedly for the welfare of the poor and ensure that the basic necessities are made available to them,” he said.

He presented shawls to community panchayat presidents, vice presidents and elected members and felicitated them. Vicar general of the diocese Denis Moras Prabhu presented the Holy Bible and chief secretary M P Noronha presented flowers to the winners in the elections.

Diocese citizen committee director Fr J B Crasta welcomed the gathering. Victoria D' Cunha proposed the vote of thanks. Fr Henry Sequeira, Fr John Vas, Fr William Menezes, Elias Fernandes, several priests, nuns and the elite were present on the occasion.
