New Delhi, July 17 (IANS): Counsel for suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorist Abu Jundal, the alleged mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, told a court here on Friday that if his trial is conducted through video conferencing, his defence would be adversely affected.

Jundal's counsel M.S. Khan told District Judge Amar Nath that if the trial was conducted through video conferencing, his defence would be adversely affected as there will be no proper communication between him and his client.

However, he informed the court that he would write a letter to Jundal for seeking his instruction on this issue.

The court posted the matter for further hearing on August 5.

The court was hearing National Investigation Agency (NIA) plea seeking proceedings against Jundal should be conducted via video conferencing.

NIA, in an application moved last week, said the Maharashtra government apprehends that Jundal could be killed or kidnapped by rivals during his transit from jail to court.

Jundal is lodged in Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai.

The NIA has charge sheeted Jundal in Delhi for allegedly conspiring to carry out terror activities in India, including the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
