Eid celebrated in Himachal

Shimla, July 18 (IANS): Muslims across Himachal Pradesh celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday, braving rain here to take part in the morning prayers.

Large crowds were witnessed in Muslim-dominated areas of Shimla, Chamba and Nahan towns.

The population of the Muslims in the hill state is less than two percent of the total population of over 68 lakh.

The state government has declared a holiday on the occasion of Eid in all government offices and educational institutes.
