Delhi sees light rain on Eid day, Sunday to be wet too


New Delhi, July 18 (IANS): Light rainfall on Saturday brought relief to residents of the national capital as the maximum temperature settled down at 33.7 degrees Celsius, average for the season. The Met office forecast similar weather Sunday.

"The sky will remain cloudy on Sunday with light rain or thundershowers in many areas of the city," said an official of the India Meteorological Department said.

"The maximum and minimum temperature is likely to hover around 34 and 27 degrees Celsius respectively."

The city received 1.7 mm of rainfall till 5.30 p.m. on Sunday and the water on the roads disrupted traffic movement in some areas including south Delhi's Mehrauli and New Friends Colony, west Delhi's Subhash Nagar, Kohat Enclave and Rohini.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 28 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average.

Friday's maximum temperature was 34.8 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season's average, while the minimum was 27 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the season.
