'Rekindling Relationships' workshop held in city

A unique opportunity to strengthen the family ties

Media release

Mangaluru, Jul 19: With the noble objective of helping participants to understand their loved ones and strengthening family ties, 'Rekindling Relationships' workshop was organised on July 18 at Hotel Saffron, Mangaluru.

This workshop was facilitated by Valerian Sequeira who is a leadership facilitator and counsellor and was attended by people from all walks of life with a single intention of inculcating fulfilling relationships.

At the onset of the workshop Valerian drew on the metaphor of the dance floor and the balcony. He said that most of our time is spent on the dance floor of our life, doing things. The objective of this workshop is to help people spend time on the balcony looking down on their life and appreciating the people who are close to them.

He initiated the group into the Enneagram, an age old personality profiling tool which is taught in most organisations ranging from the CIA to the Vatican. This tool offers profound insights into the nine different ways in which people feel, think and behave. Through experiential activities, participants were helped to understand their own personality type, their natural gifts and also the aspects of their personality that hinders intimacy. After this the participants spent considerable time in
understanding the personality types of significant people in their life. They enjoyed sharing the positive qualities of their loved ones.

Jagadhish,a software engineer, who attended the workshop with his wife said, “Sometimes, we become judgemental based on the behaviour of our near ones, and forget to see the goodness that the other person brings to the relationship. This workshop helped me understand and accept others’ perspective.”

We are constantly moving from one thing to the other and in the busyness of our life we can easily lose track of what is important to us. Taking a break from the daily chores and attending a workshop as this could really help in expanding the paradigm and rekindling the fire within our relationships.
