Bengaluru: Archbishop bids final adieu to deceased Salesian priests

Media Release

Bengaluru, Jul 21: St Anthony’s Church, Thamboochetty Palayam was packed to capacity, including the galleries on July 20 at the funeral of Fr Thomas Myladoor (82) and Fr Madlemuthu Arulappa (38).

The two Salesian priests died in a drastic accident on Saturday July 18 near Tumkuru about 110 km from Bengaluru.

Archbishop Bernard Moras who presided over the funeral mass quoting the Bible about the indication of the rapture said, “There will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left behind. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one will be left behind…'

Such is the uncertainty and mystery of life. But a life well lived is always pleasing to the Lord. The two priests who have left us, have lived a life pleasing to God. Their work as priests has certainly been a blessing to the Salesian community and to all the people whom they served during their life time.”

The funeral mass was attended by over seven hundred priests, laity and religious. Bishop Robert Miranda of Kalaburji (Gulbarga) was also present.
