Man in US arrested for filming car accident

London, July 21 (IANS): A man in Ohio, US, was arrested and charged with trespassing for recording a car accident and trying to sell footage to news outlets, media reported on Tuesday.

Paul Pelton, 41, whipped out his cell phone to record a fatal accident on Monday last, instead of helping the victims, and posted the footage on Facebook, allegedly attempting to sell it to news outlets.

Pelton reportedly opened the rear door of the car to get better video as two boys were inside. One teenager was killed and the other was severely injured in the mishap, the Independent reported.

He was later arrested. Police have levelled trespassing charges at him for opening the door of the car. In the video -- now removed from Pelton's Facebook page -- he can be heard saying "idiots" multiple times in apparent reference to the teenagers in the car.

"I just wanted to educate people to slow down. I didn't do that to have some type of gore video," Pelton said earlier.

Pelton also defended himself on Facebook by claiming others on the scene also recorded the incident.
