Caller from Lokayukta sought necklace from MLC

Bengaluru, Jul 22 (DHNS): An incident wherein an MLC was asked by a caller from the Lokayukta office to part with a diamond necklace worth Rs 25 lakh has now come to light.

A few months back, JD(S) MLC T A Saravana got a call apparently from the Lokayukta office from a certain Ashwin, asking him to come to the Kumara Krupa guesthouse. Saravana, who runs a chain of gold stores, panicked as the caller said there were complaints against him and the meeting had to be arranged.

On reaching the guesthouse, a person told Saravana that he give a diamond necklace worth Rs 25 lakh so that the complaints against him could be ignored. Saravana confided about the incident to his fellow MLC Basavaraj Horatti.

Horatti advised Saravana to ignore the incident and not part with the necklace. Horatti narrated the incident in the Council on Tuesday.

Saravana later confirmed that the incident had occurred three months ago, but said he could not properly recall who he had met at the guesthouse.
