Shanta Kumar's concern on Vyapam scam unnecessary: Shivraj

Bhopal, July 22 (IANS): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the concern expressed by senior BJP leader Shanta Kumar on the opposition's Vyapam scam allegations without knowing the reality was unnecessary.

In a letter written to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah, Kumar said the Vyapam scam has maligned BJP's image. He also suggested setting up of an ethics committee.

Replying to Kumar's letter, Chouhan wrote a letter to him on Tuesday night. He said: "It is unnecessary and unexpected to express concern over allegations levelled by the opposition on BJP leaders without acquiring exact information."

Elaborating on the Vyapam issue, the chief minister wrote: "As far as the issue of Vyapam is concerned, I handed it over to Special Task Force (STF) so that the entire issue can be investigated in an impartial and efficient manner. The Supreme Court has also praised the STF investigation and found it impartial and heading in right direction."
