Man tries to tie mangalsutra to a girl in running bus, arrested

Madurai,July 22 (PTI): A 33-year old man was arrested after he allegedly attempted to tie mangalsutra to a teenaged girl in a running bus near on Tuesday, police said.

Kallanai, a salesman in a TASMAC liquor outlet, used to tease the girl while she used to travel by bus to her school. On Tuesday morning, he sprang up from his seat in the bus and tried to tie the mangalsutra around the neck of the girl when the alert girl foiled it and slapped him with a footwear.

Other passengers in the bus joined the girl and beat him up and handed him over the all woman Police Station at Melur.

Inspector Ambika arrested the man and produced him before a court which remanded him to Judicial custody.
