Oposition's conduct in parliament unfortunate: Rajnath

New Delhi, July 22 (IANS): Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday termed the opposition's conduct in parliament "unfortunate" after External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj expressed her willingness to make a statement on the Lalit Modi issue.

"Sushma ji requested that she wanted to make a statement in parliament on the baseless allegations against her. But, the opposition did not want to listen. This is very unfortunate," Rajnath Singh told reporters outside parliament.

Congress parliamentarian Jyotiraditya Scindia, however, said all opposition parties, including the Trinamool Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), were demanding action against the BJP minister and two chief ministers allegedly involved in impropriety and corruption cases.

"We demand action against those involved in corruption cases. The entire opposition is demanding action against them. On the issue of transparency, the government must practice what they preach," Scindia told reporters outside parliament.
