BJP demands Uttarakhand CM's resignation


New Delhi, July 22 (IANS): The BJP on Wednesday demanded the resignation of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat, alleging he was involved in a liquor scam and "loot" during the 2013 floods.

"The Uttarakhand chief minister and his personal secretary were involved in a liquor scam and loot during the Uttarakhand floods," union Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said at a press conference.

She also released a sting operation video and said: "We have video proof which shows involvement of the Uttarakhand CM and his powerful close confidante in the scam."
