A green drive in the heart of Delhi


New Delhi, July 23 (IANS): A major tree plantation drive will be launched on Saturday to expand the green cover in the heart of the Indian capital, it was announced on Thursday.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), the smallest of the civic agencies in the city, will plant over 20,000 saplings that day, NDMC chairman Naresh Kumar said in a statement.

The NDMC area lies in the heart of Delhi and includes the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Prime Minister's Office, India Gate, Jantar Mantar, Connaught Place, Parliament and the diplomatic enclave.
