Three held, 100 auto theft cases solved

New Delhi, July 23 (IANS): Three people have been arrested for their alleged involvement in over 100 vehicle theft cases in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR), police said on Thursday.

Gang leader Devender Kumar, 33, was on Monday arrested with his associates Satpal, 40, and Somveer, 22, from Darya Gang in central Delhi.

"The accused are involved in more than 100 automobile theft cases in Delhi and NCR," Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav said.

Devender and Satpal told police that they and their associate Bunty had stolen many vehicles from Delhi and NCR.

"After stealing them, Devender and Satpal would contact another man, Rakesh, to prepare forged documents. Thereafter, the stolen vehicles were sold to Somveer," said the officer.
