New Delhi, July 23 (IANS): Hollywood actress Lucy Liu, who has slipped into the female avatar of Dr. Joan Watson for TV series "Elementary", says she enjoys her stint as the detective for its non-stereotypical portrayal with subtleness and power at the core.

"I like the idea that she is not incredibly colourful and incredibly all laid out. I think that there is something very fragile and very strong about her at the same time, which I really enjoy playing," Liu said in a statement.

The popular crime-based series, which is aired on AXN India, presents a modern and refreshing take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's books with detective Sherlock Holmes and his sidekick Watson, who is a male in the original novel, solving challenging criminal cases.

"Charlie's Angel" famed actor Liu has also directed a few episodes of the series, in which the duo crack New York City's most puzzling crime cases together.

In the series, Holmes originally from London, is spending his days in a New York rehab center along with Watson, who becomes his investigation partner.

The roller-coaster ride with bouts of love-hate relationship between Holmes and Watson has already regaled the audience with three seasons. And the next season is expected to be out later this year, read a statement.
