Snubbed by Sonia, Tharoor earns Modi's praise

New Delhi, Jul 23 (PTI): Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who got an earful from his party chief Sonia Gandhi yesterday, received accolades today from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his skills in public speaking, leaving political tongues wagging on the timing of the praise.

Modi showered praise on Tharoor, the only Congress MP present at a function organised by the Lok Sabha Speaker for MPs, while talking about the need for free airing of views on national issues irrespective of the party affiliations.

"Oxford debate has a huge significance. It is good that Shashi ji was there.... What he spoke there reflected the sentiments of the citizens of India," he said while inaugurating a workshop on the Speaker's Research Initiative (SRI) to train MPs on various subjects of global importance.

The praise for Tharoor, the lone Congress MP present at the function, came a day after he was snubbed by his party chief for the leak of his remarks counselling Congress against disruption of Parliament over scams.

To add to Congress' discomfort, words of praise for Tharoor also came from Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, who said his speech at the Oxford University was appreciated by all. "You (Tharoor) had spoken from your heart," she said.

Tharoor later acknowledged Modi's praise for him saying he (Modi) spoke with a large heart. Only yesterday, he was snubbed by Congress President Sonia Gandhi for his remarks disapproving of disruptions in Parliament.

Modi pointed out that Tharoor's speech, in which he had demanded reparation payments from the UK to India for 200 years of its colonial rule, has gone viral on Youtube.

He said the significance of Tharoor's speech lay in the timing and place, which many times becomes a "turning point" of events.

"It is important what we leave behind at the right place. The occasion is also important," he said as the Kerala MP, seated in the front row, acknowledged Modi's remarks with a smile.

In his speech, Modi also referred to Bal Gangadhar Tilak, who had coined the famous slogan 'freedom is our birth right' during the Independence movement.

"That was impromptu. That was the voice from within. These words ring loud even today" he said of Tilak's famous quote.

The Congress MP was among the few non-BJP MPs present in the gathering that included veteran Parliamentarian L K Advani, ministers and MPs belonging to BJP and its allies.

Tharoor had found himself in problems over his praise of Modi on a few occasions ever since he came to power last year and attracted criticism within the party for that.

He had accepted the Prime Minister's invitation to join the 'Clean India' campaign and had recently praised Modi's campaign on yoga and had also remarked that the Prime Minister leaves a positive impact on the countries he visits though he follows the UPA policies.

Later when asked by reporters to comment on Modi's praise, he said, "I am grateful. He (Modi) was kind enough. He spoke with a large heart."

When his attention was drawn to the fact that he was the only MP from Congress at attend the programme, Tharoor said he had not noticed it. He said he attended the programme as he had got the invitation from the host--the Speaker.

At the same time, he said MPs from other parties were also present at the event.
Tharoor, who was dropped from the panel of Congress spokespersons some time back for praising Modi, had often rubbed his party on the wrong side with his praise of Modi on a few occasions.

He had accepted the Prime Minister's invitation to join the 'Clean India' campaign and had recently praised Modi's campaign on yoga. He had also remarked that the Prime Minister leaves a positive impact on the countries he visits though he follows the UPA policies.

Winston Churchill ordered the diversion of food from starving Indians to well-supplied British soldiers and stockpiles in Europe. When
he was intimated about the scale of tragedy caused by his decisions, Churchill’s peevish response was “Why hasn’t Gandhi died yet?”

    6. Violence and racism were the reality. Jallianwala Bagh massacre where the unarmed protesters were blew to bits is the symbol of British despotism.

    7. India contributed more soldiers to the wars than Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa put together. One sixth of the British forces
were from the Indian subcontinent. Almost 800,000 soldiers took part in the war, around 53,000 Indian soldiers died, 64,000 were wounded and around
    4000 went missing.

In 1945, India’s war contribution estimated to about 8 billion pounds in today’s money, while Britain owes 1.25 billion pounds war debt to India that
    it still hasn’t paid.

    8. While Indian Railways is often referred as a gift by the British, it was actually built to benefit the rulers, to carry Indian raw materials
to the ports so that they can be shipped to Britain. It was to serve colonial interests.

It was a scheme described at the time as private enterprise at public risk. Private British enterprise, public Indian risk.

some of bytes from shashi tharoors speech in oxford university, britain
    quote:
    1. Economic situation of the colonies was worsened by the experience of British colonialism.
Our s(hr)inking handloom industry was a case in point. Our weavers, who used to make fine muslins
as light as woven air, became beggars as the British broke their looms, imposed duties and tariffs
on Indian cloth and even cut off their thumbs while replacing Indian textiles with cheaper fabric from satanic steam mills of Britain.

Our share of world exports fell from 27per cent to 2 per cent.

    2. In short, British industrialisation took its strength from de-industrialisation in India.

    3. With the earnings of their loot a Hindi word for pillage, which found a place in their dictionaries as
well as habits in India, colonialists like Robert Clive bought their rotten boroughs in England. And the British
had the gall to call him Clive of India as if he belonged to the country while all he did was to ensure that the country belonged to him.
    4. By the end of the 19th century, India was Britain’s biggest cash cow, the world’s biggest purchaser of British exports
and the source of highly paid employment for British civil servants.(contd)

If anybody goes back & reads comments section about Shashi Tharoor's wife's death, then now you can see U Turn by BJP supporters who had blamed him as mallu with Dawood Connection who silenced his wife with their help, just because he opened his mouth about internal meeting details publicly he became darling of Modi!
Every criminal or alleged law breaker wants to be on the right side of ruling party to get clean chit, just like Salman.
But if he enters BJP he will prove a bad legacy as his past baggage & habits won't stop him from doing the same there.
Just wait for more, but he will learn the hard truth about Modi's habit of dumping people once he gets his work done as many party leaders have found themselves at present.
Beware Throor, Loyalty to party is more important in any party than any person's ego or desire to sabotage its principles & discipline.

What karmic fault was Karna's when his mother Kunti decided to misuse the boon to give birth to him? What karmic fault was Karna's when Vishnu deliberately came to take his kavach and kundal to weaken him in battle? What karmic fault was Eklavya when he was purposely asked to cut off his thumb in order to appease Drona who wanted to make Arjuna the best archer?

The praises to Karna, Bheeshma, Drona are given as long as they bowed to the Pandavas. Krishna on the other hand is forgiven for deliberately changing the rules and deceiving whenever he saw fit.

In karma is true, then there is no escape because right and wrong have no meaning. But God who we Christians believe is Truth, isn't arbitrary. Good and Evil are not relative and will be judged accordingly, otherwise lakhs of people like Nirbhaya who couldn't get justice on earth will never get justice in Heaven.

You talk about cause and effect for your birth? What adharma did Karna do when his mother Kunti decided to misuse the boon to give birth to him? What was his karmic fault? What adharma did Eklavya do when he was born as a shudra prince? And how do you know adharma when good and evil are relative? What was his karmic fault? As per Christianity, if Taroor or any of us have sinned, we have to answer God, even if we escape man. There is no relative judgement with God and neither is there any deception or blaming your karmic past.

Mr. Modi saw only Gujarat mainly in his political life, and his knowledge about the world is very limited in the practical way since he never got the opportunity to study at the world famous Universities like Oxford, Cambridge, Harward, Yale etc as the former political leaders of India did. Education in world famous Universities have greater bearing upon the leader of any country.

Praising Tharror was a big mistake he did, for the past digging classical speech. If the Indian politicians are going to dig down the past and claiming back from England, how the Western world will dare to invest money in India in the Indian Railway-infrastructure etc. They will not get anything back.

I wrote comments in some Indian as well as in the U.S. publications about Swami Vivekananda as one of the greatest spiritual gurus of India. His life was the most practical life of humility, faith and service for the humanity.

Please tell me, which Government he lead in his lifetime? For a Swami of his time, he was very highly educated with a college degree from Calcutta. Swami Vivekananda has ruthlessly attacked the religious hypocrisy, mainly in the Hindu religion.

How the politicians, some of them without any education are landing in the powerful seats as CM and the rest? They could get political follower through delivering fascinating political promises, that doesn't mean that they are brilliant.

When I read the autobiographies like the long time foreign Minister of Russia and finally as the Vice President of USSR, Mr. Andrei Gromyko in his book " Memories", he has written about hundreds of political leaders of the world, mentioned specifically about Pundit Nehru, Indira Gandhi and V.K.Krishna Menon etc.

We have started the comments touching the eloquent speech of
Sashi Taroor, who is a very well educated person, but he went overboard in touching some issues associated with Britain. He has followed the V.K. Krishana Menon attitude which will turn as far less productive in course of time.

shashi tharoor has become a national sensation for his speech few days back
in university of oxford, britian which gave details about britsh loot of india with proofs
which removed water down of british bodies.

his speech has gone viral in youtube with more than 1 million hits.
pm modi has gone out of political compulsions to whole heartedly praise shashi tharoor for
his amazing speech encomapassed with relavent proofs.

Lok Sabha MP Tharoor made a passionate argument demanding reparation payments from the UK to India
for 200 years of its colonial rule, prompting a vigorous debate online with his speech becoming a hit on
social media like Facebook and YouTube.
some of the bytes from his speech:

    QUOTE:
"India's share of the world economy when Britain arrived on its shores was 23 per cent,"
Tharoor said at a debate at the University of Oxford recently.

By the time the British left it was down to below 4 per cent. Why? Simply because India had been governed for the benefit of Britain.
Britain's rise for 200 years was financed by its depredations in India," he said, debating:
'This house believes Britain owes reparations to her former colonies'.....

what is there to be excited for bjp or congress by shahshis statement?what he told was a pure fact.if britain waged war against india(bharathvarsh) then and ruled it for 200 years, shashi or for that matter indians would not have thought like this.but that country came in the guise of a trading company named british east india company and assured all the kings that they came here just for spice trade and nothing else and asked them to give place to stay in thier kingdoms and help them in business and attacked them unawares and ruled the country by deceit.

this small island country which does not have any resources of its own is one of the richest today in the world just by looted resources of india.

usa situation will be just like germany and france that is very strong to protect its country but zero capability to command the world in next decade.
britians payback time is near as russia will sooner or later attack this country and putin has publicly d his intentions and sent nuke warships to english channel and russian aircrafts have intentionally violated british airspace few months back as a warning to that small island.

european union will break very soon as rich countries like germany and france are not ready to service hundreds of billions of debts of looser countries which are known as PIGS(portugal, italy, greece, spain) in european circles and put thier economy in danger.the real play will be stared by russia and china once europian union breaks.current generation britain are also scared that if india will join them as they have looted india by deceit.

Modiji will be delighted to hear the friction in between Shasi Tarror and Ms. Sonia Gandhi thus he opened his mouth after a very long time.

He was not happy about the anti-minority attacks, scams, corruption and death associated with the corruption those are far less important, and according to the Law Minister Sadananda Gowda
"silly matters" for the PM of India.

Mr. Modi's primary aim is to see the BJP growing very rich and powerful in India, so any political fish like Sashi Taroor creating friction at the Congress party will give him great relief to speak out something. I don't remember he ever delivered a 2014
Christmas message addressing the minority Christians of India.

Enemy's enemy is a friend - Modi has used this proverb.
Now Shash Tharoor will be made Incharge of BJP in Kerala, and Kochi Team in IPL will become reality in place of Rajasthan Royals.
