Ghaziabad readies for army of 'kanwarias'

Ghaziabad, July 23 (IANS): Ghaziabad is all ready to ensure a smooth passage of the thousands of 'kanwarias' who will soon head to Haridwar and return to this Uttar Pradesh district.

The Ghaziabad administration has prepared a plan to provide security to those who will bring Ganges water from Haridwar to the Doodheswar Nath temple here.

District Magistrate Vimal Kumar Sharma said traffic on National Highway 58 will be partially halted to accommodate the devotees who trek all the way.

Ambulances and medical personnel will be stationed at a gap of every 500 metres in Ghaziabad, which borders Delhi.

And to ensure that no devotee even by mistake trips into any ditch, all ditches on the route taken by them to Haridwar will be quickly filled up.

Engineers have been told to ensure that no incident of short circuit or fire takes place.

High volume music and inflammatory posters have been banned on the route taken by 'kanwarias'.
