Italian mafia chief's son held for fatal accident


Naples, July 23 (IANS/AKI): Police have arrested the son of a prominent Naples Camorra mafia boss after he allegedly knocked down and killed a 90-year-old man with his scooter before fleeing the scene.

The old man was taken to hospital after the accident but died soon afterwards from internal injuries.

Stefano Ranucci, 33, son of 53-year-old Antimo Ranucci, head of the Camorra's Ranucci clan, was taken to Naples' Poggioreale jail on Wednesday.

He faces charges of manslaughter and failure to stop at the scene of an accident.
