Bengaluru: Kabeer death - Govt mulling withdrawal of case against ANF personnel?

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jul 24: As per reliable information, the government is moving towards withdrawing case registered against a personnel of Anti Naxal Force (ANF) relating to shooting down of a person near Tanikodu checkpost in Chikkamagaluru district near Sringeri last year. It may be recalled that this incident, in which an alleged illegal cattle trafficker named Kabeer was killed, and Hindu organizations had protested against filing of case against ANF personnel and sanctioning of sizeable compensation to Kabeer's family, had given rise to lot of debate and mud-slinging.

The ANF personnel had said that after a vehicle sped away without stopping at the said check post even after it was told to stop there during the night, firing was resorted to, believing the fleeing people to be naxals. It is said that the Crime Investigation Department (CID), which conducted investigation into the incident, has clarified that it does not have any objection if the government decides to withdraw a case it had registered against ANF personnel, Naveen Naik. In all likelihood, a final decision on the issue will be taken at the next cabinet meeting.

Kabeer from Mangaluru had died during the said firing. While BJP and Hindu outfits had strongly come in support of ANF action, Congress and other pro-minority organizations had demanded for stern action against ANF. The investigation was finally handed over to CID, which even arrested Naik and slapped a case of murder on him.

CID has since taken a stand that Tanikodu check post had been frequented by naxals in the past, and the area had also witnessed firing by naxals in 2006 and 2013. It was therefore but natural for ANF personnel to believe that those running away from them under the cover of darkness were naxals, it has concluded. Hence, the firing on Kabeer, who was fleeing, was a legal act by a person deployed on duty, and it was not a purposeful act of murder, CID has reasoned. Moreover, the service record of Naveen Naik was found to be impeccable, and he had even won the President's award.

The issue had snowballed into a big controversy after the deputy commissioner of Chikkamagaluru district dithered in the matter of confirming that the incident was legitimate. As politicians and other organizations jumped into the fray and cast allegations against each other, and the government announced compensation to the family of Kabeer's, the issue turned murkier and dragged on, it is generally felt.

Pity pity pity reading all comments how a security issue has been turned and twisted to suit each ones communal hunger and how communal considerations of the government have played with the career and integrity of security personnel in line of duty in a naxal infested area where naxals can strike at a seconds notice in any form of guerilla warfare just like in the North East. Everyone living around Karkala, Hebri and the whole naxal belt are well aware that it is not a kids play to play hide and seek with the anti naxal force. Even the said person irrespective of his religion had commited the same blunder in Middle East or USA or Europe he would have met the same fate. My expat friends know well what security and law and order means in foriegn countries. This is merely a case of a security personnel mistaking a cow thief for a naxal and shooting before being shot dead himself. Hope none of our security personnel or want to be security personnel are reading this, they would be deeply hurt by this communal color given to it and a easy scape goat made out of people in line of duty.

Why these so called cow bhakts are silent for killings of thousands of cows daily in Gujarat by the relatives of Modi. Why are they doing partiality. Is their cow not sacred in Gujarat. I am sure the cows detained in Karnataka are being transported to Gujarat by these dhongi bjp / BD terrorist and money is being shared by them. ANF personnel deserves strict action for killing an innocent. Is he human being? Shame on him for killing an innocent citizen. Govt has not given ammunition to him to kill innocents. He is there to protect citizens. Such an irresponsible person and his blind supporters are good for nothing. Shame on you guys.

    Super Friend...
    Super Idea...
Neither congRSS or Cheddis will support minorities.. ANF stands for Country or Cheddis? If they want to check the so called cow thieves or naxalities, this Kabeer(example) had full body..only chest ..ok? ANF could have shot at leg or other body part, as the whole world knows (except cheddis /like minded) he was shot at point blank range(it's sure pre-planned)..!!

A innocent is killed. The same incident will not grab such police action if cows are transported even at midnight in Gujarat where minimum 1000 cows are killed on daily basis and exported with license.
The government is a 5 year arrangement, they come and go but the killing a innocent at night by police will haunt his family and his relatives for ages. A unarmed boy was killed just because he ran from the scene.
He alighted from the van, feared because the police carry Ak47 and ran because of possible unlawful confinements at night which might be beating and torturing at a nearby police booth.
There were protests by the Hindu outfits because the victims family was given a compensation and the protest continued in moral policing and torturing hundreds of drivers who transported animals.
You should decide what to do with cows which are old and of no use ,once your own Hindu people sell them to someone and it has be transported, your Hindu brothers have already received the worth of the cows and then what is your problem with the people who bought them.
You do not eat beef because you do not know the taste or benefits of the meat,or you may not afford to buy it,but why you have a objection if someone afford to buy and eat.

I know the entire episode and the BD and other Sene tipped off the officer to take action at the Ghat section.
Because they cant fire like this at other parts of the highway.
But do not tell me bravery of firing at a feared and running boy and the post mortem report clearly shows the bullet was on his back.
You people think that just by killing a innocent boy you can stop beef in DK,but your coward leaders dare to enter shivaji Nagar Bangalore Market?
I may be of any religion but I am Indian and I do not agree with injustice done.
Your Hindu brothers sell the old cattle in Hassan and other parts and what is his crime?
You must travel then you know what is beef and why whole world has no problem about beef.

    Dear nazeer saab

majoritarian never told any one to steal the cow from the hut. they never told any one to do the crime. but people keep on doing the same crime & blaming in the name of religion. it is not good. whoever do the wrong thing he is eligible for punishment. it could be your logic that the criminals should be awarded. but our legal system cannot do like that. don't use minority, majority theory for escape from the punishment. no religion support such kind of theory.

Please take back the compensation given to the culprit's family..

If goverment withdraws case against the ANF, its proved that the killed culprit is a criminal, and killing criminal will not yield any compensation...

If compensation not take back, then will ensure a case is filed in high court
