Salman thanks UP CM for making 'Bajrangi...' tax-free

Mumbai, July 24 (IANS): Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has thanked Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and his government for making his latest offering, "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", tax-free in the state.

The 49-year-old actor took to micro-blogging website Twitter on Thursday to thank the Uttar Pradesh government.

"Bajrangi Bhaijaan is tax free in UP. We thank the Govt of Uttar Pradesh. @yadavakhilesh," Salman tweeted.

"Bajrangi Bhaijaan", which entered the Rs.100 crore club in its opening weekend itself, was made tax-free after the movie's director Kabir Khan met the chief Minister with the request.

During the meeting, Akhilesh told Kabir that the state offers immense possibilities for film production owing to which the state government has unveiled an attractive and convenient film policy, which has attracted many filmmakers into shooting in the state.

The state has made many films tax-free in the past. These include "Tevar", "Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho", "Hamari Adhuri Kahani" and "Masaan".
