Bhatkal, Jul 24: The search for the dead body of Zulfik, a resident of Gousiya street, who was washed away in the floods on Sunday July 19, continued on Thursday July 23. A team of six naval soldiers led by commander Vijay Chikara, with modern diving kits, conducted search operations in the deep waters of Sharabi Lake.

Fishermen from Mundalli Havalikanta in the taluk joined the naval soldiers. However, the operation was not successful causing disappointment to the family of the deceased.

DySP Ayyappa and CPI Prashanth were present with the staff.

Deputy commissioner Ujwal Ghosh and zilla panchayat executive official V R P Mohan visited Chowthani, Moodabhatkala, and other flood-affected areas. The DC obtained details of the loss caused by floods from local officials, visited the house of late Zulkif and consoled his family members. The deputy commissioner has promised to provide compensation to the affected people soon after conducting survey work.

Bhatkal sub-divisional officer Chidananda Vatare, Tahsildar V N Badkar, and taluk panchayat executive official C T Naika were present.
