Juvenile held for killing gardener for money


New Delhi, July 24 (IANS): A juvenile has been apprehended for killing a gardener and injuring another person when they refused to give him money, police said on Friday.

The murder took place on a farmhouse in Fatehpur Beri area of south Delhi on Monday and the juvenile was apprehended on Thursday.

The deceased, identified as Panga Ram, 50, was found dead while a seriously injured Ram Kumar was lying close to him when a police team reached the spot after getting a call.

Panga Ram used to stay in the farmhouse with Ram Kumar.

The juvenile, who works in a nearby beverage godown, visited the farmhouse in the intervening night of July 20 and 21 when Panga Ram and Ram Kumar where there, demanded money from both the victims and later indulged in a scuffle with them when they refused, a police officer said.

"During the scuffle, the juvenile picked up an empty beer bottle lying nearby and assaulted Panga Ram on his head repeatedly till he fell down. He also attacked Ram Kumar with the bottle, snatched his mobile phone and ran away from the spot," said Deputy Commissioner of Police Prem Nath.
