Lightning kills six in Bihar


Patna, July 24 (IANS): At least six people, including two children, were killed and five seriously injured on Friday when they were struck by lightning in Bihar's Nawada and Jamui districts, police said.

Four people were killed in a village in Nawada, about 150 km from Patna, while working in a field near their home, district police officials said.

Two people were killed in Jamui while returning home.

According to reports reaching here, two people were killed in Kaimur district on Thursday after being hit by lightning.

Meteorological department officials said lightning strikes are common in Bihar during the June-September monsoon season.
