Seven militants killed in Afghanistan


Kabul, July 25 (IANS): At least seven militants were killed in the former Taliban strongholds of southern Helmand and Zabul provinces over the past 24 hours to Saturday morning, an interior ministry statement said.

Seven Taliban rebels have been killed by police backed by the army, three others were injured and another one made captive during a crackdown against insurgents in parts of Helmand and Zabul provinces since Friday morning, Xinhua reported.

However, the statement did not mention if there were casualties on security personnel.

Taliban militants active in the restive southern region have not made any comment.
