Punjab attack eerily similar to Jammu attacks: Omar

New Delhi, July 27 (IANS): The terror attack in Punjab is eerily similar to attacks in the border belt of Jammu, said former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Monday.

"Will be very interested to see what emerges about the identity of the terrorists involved in the Gurdaspur attack this morning," tweeted Abdullah after militants stormed a police station in Punjab's Dinanagar town.

"The timing of the attack, methodology and location are all eerily similar to attacks in the border belt of Jammu," said Abdullah.

He also suggested that Prime Minister Narendra Modi consult the chief ministers of Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab as it will help in better coordination of anti-terror efforts.

"It is very necessary for Modi to be in touch with CMs of Punjab and J&K. This will help in better coordination of anti-terror efforts," Abdullah said.

Earlier in the day, Modi met Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and other senior ministers over the terror attack in a Punjab town that left six people dead.
