New Delhi, July 27 (IANS): A loud sound created by a faulty motorcycle silencer on Monday triggered panic in the national capital, which was put on a high alert following the terror attack in Punjab, police said.
The panic was created after people heard a loud noise near Sena Bhawan, which houses key offices of the army, at central Delhi's Rafi Marg area, thinking it to be a "gun shot".
"Initially, we got to know that there was a gun shot near Sena Bhawan. We immediately sent a team at the spot which confirmed that the noise was created after there was a blast in a motorbike's silencer," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Jatin Narwal told IANS.
