China unveils logo for World War II commemoration

Beijing, July 27 (IANS): The Chinese government on Monday unveiled a logo to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the second World War.

The logo's unveiling comes ahead of preparations marking the anniversary including a massive military parade in Beijing on September 3.

The logo is created around a red-coloured "70" symbolising the end of the war in 1945 and also the end of the Chinese People's War of resistance against Japanese aggression, the Global Times reported.

Above the 70, five doves fly over and behind the Great Wall which spreads in the shape of the letter "V".

The "V" symbolises victory and the unity of the Chinese nation, the state council information office said.

The doves symbolise the Chinese people flying to a future of great rejuvenation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the office said.
