Pakistan flood toll now over 50


Islamabad, July 27 (IANS): Over 50 people have been killed across Pakistan due to floods caused by torrential rain, a media report said on Monday.

According to a report by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), 26 people were in killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, five in Punjab, seven in Balochistan and 13 in Gilgit-Baltistan, the Daily Times reported.

According to the NDMA, a total of 873 houses have been destroyed across the three provinces.

The meteorological department has forecast rain will continue until Tuesday.

It warned that the heavy rains might generate flash floods, and therefore, all authorities concerned were requested to take precautionary measures.

Over 200 relief camps have been set up in the affected areas.
