New Delhi, July 28 (IANS): The CPI-M on Tuesday expressed "deep sorrow" over the death of former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
"Kalam played a pivotal role in the development of India's nuclear technology capabilities," the Communist Party of India-Marxist said in a statement.
"Kalam tirelessly worked among the youth of our country, particularly school students, urging them to develop a vision for creating a better India.
"He had unassailable faith in our Indian youth scaling new heights of scientific and technological advances."
The CPI-M said that Kalam, as the president, "discharged his responsibilities in a dignified manner".
Kalam died on Monday in Shillong after collapsing during a lecture.
