AMU calls Kalam 'champion of learning'


Aligarh, July 28 (IANS): The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on Tuesday voiced condolences over the demise of former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

Vice Chancellor Zameer Uddin Shah described Kalam, who died on Monday in Shillong, as a champion of learning. "He will always be our beacon."

Kalam was conferred the Honorary D.Sc. Degree in June 2008 at the 58th annual convocation of the AMU.
