Jharkhand cabinet okays setting up State Development Council


Ranchi, July 28 (IANS): The Jharkhand cabinet on Tuesday gave its approval to the setting up of a State Development Council, said an official here.

"The state cabinet gave its approval to constituting the State Development Council," cabinet secretary N.N. Pandey told reporters.

"The chief minister will be chairman of the council and the deputy chairman and members will be eminent personalities.

"All cabinet ministers and MPs would be its members while 30 percent seats have been kept for the legislators of the state who would be nominated on rotation for one year," said Pandey.

"The state cabinet also gave its approval for the Solar Power policy 2015 under which the target is to produce 2,650 MW power. Investment will be invited to meet the target," the cabinet secretary said.

In Tuesday's cabinet meeting, a total 17 proposals were cleared.

Pandey said the cabinet has also approved a proposal to hand over 2.80 acres of land on lease at the rate of Re.1 per year to Apollo Hospitals, Chennai to establish a super-specialty hospital in Ghaghra of Ranchi.

The state government has also decided that in six prominent districts of the state -- which have a total of 46 urban police stations -- inspector rank official would be given the charge of police stations to improve the law and order situation.
