July 30 public holiday in Tamil Nadu


Chennai, July 28 (IANS): The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday declared a public holiday on July 30 as a mark of respect to former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam who died on Monday.

In a statement issued here, the government said it has decided to declare a public holiday on Thurday, the day of Kalam's funeral, under the Negotiable Instruments Act.

July 30 will be a holiday for all educational institutions, government and private establishments, it said.
