Peru: 11 dead as truck falls into lake


Lima, Jul 29 (IANS/EFE): At least 11 people died and 41 were injured when the truck in which they were travelling plunged into a lake in Peru, a media report said.

The incident took place in Peru's Cuzco region on Tuesday.

Eight men and two women, including a 12-year-old girl, lost their lives. The injured were taken to a medical clinic.

The truck went off a bridge and fell into the lake, RPP Noticias reported.

The victims were going to take part in a parade for the country's independence day festivities.

Peru celebrates independence day on July 28.
