Rains, flood kill 54 in Madhya Pradesh


Bhopal, July 29 (IANS): At least 54 people have been killed in Madhya Pradesh since the monsoon hit the state on June 14, the revenue department has said, adding that the kin of the dead will get compensation of Rs.4 lakh each.

While rains and flood have severely damaged 829 building, 8,928 buildings have been damaged partially, the revenue department said in a statement here late Tuesday.

At least 105 animals have also been killed in the incessant rains.
