Kundapur, Jul 30: Even after two months since the sudden, mysterious disappearance of Malathi Shetty (65) from Korgi Charukottige near Tekkatte in the taluk at 1.30 pm on June 24 this year, there has been no progress in finding out about her whereabouts.
The family members, who are keen on finding her out, have announced a reward of one lac rupees to anyone having some credible information about Malathi Shetty. They have promised to keep the name and other details of the informants secret, if they so desire.
Malathi had left home, telling the family members that she would return after visiting a neighbour. It was evident by the fact that she wore ordinary clothing used at home, and old shoes, and did not take along umbrella and cellphone, that her intention was to visit a house in the neighbourhood. Out of the investigation so far, no inference could be drawn as to whether she was abducted, whether something happened to her, or whether she went away on her own accord, which is most unlikely.
The family members say that she was wearing gold ornaments worth Rs 3.75 lac, which wears routinely. First information report about her missing was filed in the police station here on June 26. There is no headway in the case so far, and it is not known what happened to Malathi once she crossed the compound of her home.
The family has earnestly requested the general public having any information about the missing woman to convey the piece of information they have to them so that they can work on it and move towards finding out their missing mother.
