US-based fitness chain eyes expansion in north India


New Delhi, July 30 (IANS): US-based fitness chain Anytime Fitness plans to open 10 gyms in north India by end-2016.

It entered the Indian market in 2012 with its first centre here. Currently, there are nearly 15 Anytime Fitness clubs in India.

After establishing its strong presence in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad, the brand has identified north India as its next key market.

The brand is planning to expand its wings in Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.

“The company is eyeing north India region to tap the country’s growing fitness market and plans to launch more than 10 fitness gyms by end of year 2016 with an investment of Rs.15 crore.

"It is a growing market and people here are also fitness conscious," Vikas Jain, managing director of Anytime Fitness India, which is open for 24 hours in cities like Mumbai and Delhi, said in a statement.
