Kasargod, Jul 31: A teenager, who had been locked up inside a shop for which he worked, after being accused of stealing cash, hanged himself there on Wednesday July 29. The incident occurred at a shop here.

The deceased has been identified as Issah (17) from Payyannur Alakkod. Relating to this death, shop owner, P V Muhammed Kunhi, and a fishing labourer, K Moosan, have been arrested.

Issah worked as an assistant to Muhammed Kunhi, who operated the shop. The owner found that Rs 60,000 had gone missing from his cash box. As the shopkeeper suspected involvement of Issah in this theft, he confined Issah inside the shop and locked him up.

The merchant, during the search later, found the money he was searching for. Learning that the boy had been locked inside the shop, a large number of people gathered near the shop. The shopkeeper then opened the shop and saw that Issah had hanged himself from the shop roof and was frantically struggling for breath.

The youngster was then released from the noose and rushed to a hospital. However, he died before reaching the hospital. The shopkeeper and fisherman have been arrested and charged with abetting the suicide.
