Brussels, July 31 (IANS): The European Council said here on Friday that it has adopted the first legal acts implementing the latest Iran nuclear deal, which would allow for certain relief in sanctions against Iran.

This resolution provides for certain derogations from restrictions currently in place so as to allow the shipment of certain nuclear-related equipment out of Iran.

The modification of two cascades in Fordow and the modernisation of the Arak reactor; transfers and activities necessary to implement certain nuclear-related commitments specified in the JCPOA or required for the preparation for the implementation of the JCPOA.

It said the legal acts adopted by the council translate into EU law these provisions. The legal acts are available in the official journal dated August 1.

The comprehensive agreement on Iranian nuclear issue, Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was clinched after umpteen rounds of tough negotiations over more than nine years in Austrian capital Vienna and the Swiss city of Geneva between Iran and the P5 1 -- Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States, plus Germany.

The landmark deal is expected to put Iran on the path of sanctions relief but more strict limits on its nuclear program.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear issue was reached on July 14 in Vienna, and the United Nations Security Council adopted a resolution endorsing the JCPOA on July 20.
