Three policemen injured in Kashmir guerrilla attack


Srinagar, Aug 1 (IANS): Three Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel were injured on Friday as guerrillas in a vehicle fired on a police checkpost post on the Srinagar-Baramulla highway, police said.

"Police at a'Naka' (checkpost) at Mirgund on the highway today (Friday) evening flagged down a vehicle. But instead of stopping, militants inside it opened fire at the police and sped away," a senior police officer told IANS.

"Sub Inspector Saleem, incharge of Mirgund police post, and two other personnel were injured in the attack," he said, adding reinforcements have been sent to the spot.
