Udupi: Missing man found dead in well at Barkur

Udupi, Aug 1: The body of a man who had gone missing three days ago was found in a well in a private property at Barkur here on Saturday August 1.

The deceased has been identified as Naveen Ganiga (32), son of Anand and Gowramma Ganiga, residents of Moodukeri, Barkur.

It is said that Naveen was addicted to alcohol and had undergone treatment at Baliga hospital, where he also worked as supervisor.

He came home from the hospital some days back, and on July 29, he went missing. However, no missing complaint was filed.

On Saturday, his body was found in a well belonging to Anand Shetty, near his parents' residence. It is suspected that he might have committed suicide.

Sources said that Naveen had attempted suicide on a previous occasion too. From 2002 to 2007, he worked in Bengaluru, but there too he was addicted to alcohol. He later shifted back to Udupi, it is learnt.

Naveen was unmarried.

Brahmavar police have registered a case.
