New guidelines for adoption come in place

New Delhi, Aug 1 (IANS): New simplified guidelines intended to provide for more effective regulation for adoption of children became operational from Saturday.

The "Guidelines Governing Adoption of Children 2015" were notified by the central government on July 17 and have come into effect from Saturday, an official release said here.

Along with it, a fully revamped IT application for the purpose of adoption of children called CARINGS (Child Adoption Resource Information and Guidance System) has also become operational from Saturday.

The new guidelines have been formulated to provide for more effective regulation for adoption of orphan, abandoned and surrendered children and would bring more transparency and efficiency in the adoption system, the release said.

With the new guidelines, it would become possible for prospective adoptive parents to track the status of their application making the entire system more user friendly.
