Bengaluru, Aug 2: Syed Riyaz who was the joint commissioner (PRO) at Lokayuktha has been suspended from his job. The state government has issued an order to this effect.

Syed Riyaz was arrested last week in a graft case allegedly happened at Lokayuktha office. Lokayuktha deputy registrar Gopalakrishna Rai had submitted a letter to the government demanding the suspension of Syed Riyaz.

Accordingly the government has issued an order suspending Syed Riyaz and relieving him from his duties at Lokayuktha. The rule says that any government officer who is taken into police custody for more than 48 hours us automatically suspended from his job. There is no need to send a written order on the same. But considering this as a special case the government has gone a step ahead with its order.
