Bengaluru, Aug 3 (DHNS): Samaja Parivarthana Samudaya Chief S R Hiremath has stated that the Special Investigation Team (SIT), constituted by the State Government to investigate into the corruption charges at Lokayukta office, is not functioning properly.

The SIT is delaying arrest of the accused persons even after having proper evidence, he said.

‘Delayed arrest’

Though, the SIT had all the evidences and documents pertaining to Ashwin Rao’s alleged involvement in the Lokayukta office scam, the officials delayed arresting the son of Lokayukta, said Hiremath adding that there is every chance that Lokayukta Bhaskar Rao, using his clout, can derail the investigation to save his son.

Hence, the government should order for probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation to ensure a fair investigation, he demanded.

Hiremath also charged that Syed Riyaz is equally responsible for the rampant corruption in Lokayukta office.

However, it is unfortunate that the government was planning to promote Syed Riyaz as Inspector General of Police. This only goes to show the unholy nexus between the government and the Lokayukta office, he rued.
