Dr. Dre's new album to come out in August

Los Angeles, Aug 4 (IANS): Record producer Andre Romelle Young, best known by his stage name Dr. Dre, will release his "Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre" album on August 7.

During his radio show "The Pharmacy", the producer announced he has dropped the plans of released his long-delayed record "Detox" and will release "Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre", reports aceshowbiz.com.

The album features soundtracks for "Straight Outta Compton", a movie about Dre's former hip-hop group N.W.A. The lineup includes Ice Cube, Kendrick Lamar, Xzibit, Jill Scott, Snoop Dogg, The Game and Eminem.

"I was leaving the set, going to the studio, and I felt myself just being so inspired by the movie that I started recording an album. I kept it under wraps, and now the album is finished. It's bananas. It's gonna be my grande finale,” Dre said.

He explained why he killed "Detox".

"The reason 'Detox' didn't come out was because I didn't like it. I don't think I did a good enough job, and I couldn't do that to my fans and I couldn't do that to myself, to be perfectly honest with you. I just wasn't feeling it," he said.

The N.W.A biopic is expected to release on August 14. Directed by F. Gary Gray, the film stars O'Shea Jackson, Jr. as Ice Cube, Corey Hawkins as Dr. Dre, Jason Mitchell as Eazy E, Aldis Hodge as MC Ren, and Neil Brown, Jr. as DJ Yella.
